Born in Warrington, Lancashire, in 1952, Parker attended Strodes College, Egham and gained a BSc Control Class Honours in Zoology afterwards the University of Wales, Town.

In 2014 Kill or Cure entered the New York Bygone Science Bestsellers [8] and too won the 2014 British Healing Association Book Award for Button Understanding of Science.[9]
